For his third solo exhibition with Art Statements, Japanese artist Takeru Amano revisits the current notion of icons. In taking the symbols of Western myths and tales ̶̶ The Honest Woodman, Actaeon, The Happy Prince… ̶̶ and confronting them with pin-up like models (modern Venuses), the artist questions what does make and what does it take, now a days in societies dominated by social media and reality TV, to become an icon?
Takeru Amano new solo exhibition “Icônes II” opens on July 21st (until Sept 30) at Art Statements Gallery Hong Kong.
